There used to be a café on the upper floor of a building in the Parade in Watford that later became a restaurant. Do you remember anything about the Cookery Nook?
The Watford Observer has again partnered with its friends at Watford Museum to look back at structures, objects or businesses from the town’s past that have either disappeared or been relocated and this week we are hoping readers will share their memories or photos of the Cookery Nook.
The museum’s volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: “We've recently been asked about the Cookery Nook which used to be on an upper floor of Monmouth House, on the Parade part of the High Street. Apart from images of the building we don't know what it was like inside.
“A 1940's directory says the café was run by Miss Peggy Gregg Couper and I believe the business was still running in the 1990s but with new owners. I wonder if anyone has any recollections?”
