Two women reportedly had their drinks spiked while on a night out in St Albans.

Herts Police warned people in St Albans to be vigilant after two women in their 50s from the area reported feeling "very unwell" after being out on Friday, January 5.

They had been drinking at a pub, but the force refused to say which one while enquiries are continuing.

Detectives from the Local Crime Unit issued a warning today (January 11) reminding people to ensure they never leave their drinks unattended, and are keen for anyone with information about the incidents to come forward.

Sergeant Mark Chipchase said: "We are carrying out an investigation and will be looking at CCTV opportunities to find out what happened to these women on Friday night," said Sergeant Mark Chipchase from the Local Crime Unit.

"If you were out on Friday and saw anyone acting suspiciously around drinks in any of the pubs, please do contact us."

Officers also issued the following advice:

  • Make sure you keep your drink with you, or with a friend, at all times.
  • Keep an eye on your friends and their drinks.
  • If you start to feel unwell, seek medical help straight away.
  • If you see anyone acting suspiciously by a drink, let a member of staff at the premises know.
