Boxer Anthony Joshua raked in a whopping £43.5 million, making him Britain's second highest-earning athlete in 2023, according to a report by Sportico.

The Watford star featured on the '100 Highest-Paid Athletes in the World' list and was estimated to have earned a total of $55M (~£43.5M), with $42M (~£33.3M) from his three fights, and $13M (~£10.3M) from endorsements.

AJ beat Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius and Otto Wallin last year and looks to be in the form which captured him world titles earlier in his career.

He has a range of commercial ties too, including with the likes of Under Armour, Hugo Boss and Beats.

AJ was 24th out of the top 100 list, with Lewis Hamilton beating him as the highest paid English athlete earning $62M in 2023.

The Sportico list was topped by Cristiano Ronaldo bagging $275M and also featured Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy, who earned $77.4M.

Fellow boxing rival Tyson Fury is the only other Brit to have featured on the list as he was estimated to have earned $40M (~£31.7M) in 2023, with a showdown between Fury and AJ likely next year if they both keep up their winning form.

AJ will fight Francis Ngannou in a fast-looming bout on March 8, while Fury will fight Usyk for all the marbles on May 18.

Both bouts with take place in Saudi Arabia, with AJ set to make a reported $50 million for his next fight.

Where does Anthony Joshua live?

The popular 34-year-old fighter and former Meriden resident stated he now lives in the Golders Green estate in North London with his mum as of 2024.

Speaking to Louis Theroux as part of his BBC ‘Louis Theroux Interviews’ series, Anthony Joshua said: "I still live with my mum.

"Why am I gonna move out and leave my mum by herself, for some girl?"

Theroux interjected: "When a woman marries a man, the man divorces his mum."

AJ responded: "Hell no.

"When a man marries (the woman) becomes a child of the mum.

"When a girl gets with me she ain’t just marrying me, she’s marrying my family."
