Herts Fire and Rescue received "multiple calls to cars stuck" and warned drivers on social media "DO NOT drive through flood water".

Elsewhere, heavy rain forced the A41 North Western Avenue to close on Thursday at the underpass beneath the Leavesden Green roundabout.

The A41 heading from Hemel Hempstead towards Watford also became a "a mini-lake" on Friday morning, forcing motorists to pass in just one lane.
