Motorists may find their journeys disrupted over the coming weeks and months due to the planned closure of several roads in our area for roadworks.

Notices published in the Public Notice Portal detail the intention to shut roads in Watford and Kings Langley.

The portal is used to access all of the upcoming and recent information about various restrictions and notices.

Here are five notices we’ve rounded up which could affect residents in the Watford area.

Various Watford roads – temporary closures

The county council intends to make an order to prevent drivers from using the following lengths of roads, except for access, and to prevent all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these roads while works are in progress.

This order is due to take effect from March 4 and will be valid for up to 18 months, but the restrictions will only be enforced at times shown on signs on or near the roads:

- Bedford Street from its junction with A412 St Albans Road north westwards for its entire length.

- Cromer Road from its junction with Bradshaw Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 164m.

- Cart Path from its junction with Horseshoe Lane south westwards for its entire length.

- Cecil Street from its junction with Leavesden Road south eastwards to its junction with A412 St Albans Road, a distance of approximately 330m.

- Durban Road East from its junction with Whippendell Road south eastwards for its entire length.

- Durban Road West from its junction with Mildred Avenue north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Whippendell Road, a distance of approximately 324m.

- Kensington Avenue from its junction with Queens Avenue north eastwards to its junction with Harwoods Road, a distance of approximately 326m.

- Kings Avenue from its junction with Harwoods Road south westwards to its junction with Queens Avenue, a distance of approximately 332m.

- Caxton Way from its northernmost junction with Greenhill Crescent south westwards, north westwards, south eastwards, eastwards and north eastwards for its entire length.

- Additionally, the existing one-way traffic system on that length of Greenhill Crescent from its northernmost junction with Caxton Way south eastwards for a distance of approximately 267 metres will be temporarily suspended to enable all vehicles to travel in both directions whilst works are in progress.

Toms Lane, Kings Langley – temporary closure

The county council intends to make an order to prevent vehicles from using a section of Toms Lane, Kings Langley, for water main works.

The road is set to be shut from its junction with Primrose Hill north eastwards for a distance of approximately 100m, except for access.

The order is due to apply from March 4 for up to 18 months, but restrictions will only apply at times shown on signs at or near the roads.

Colne Way – temporary closure

The county council intends to make an order to temporarily close a section of Colne Way, Watford, due to electrical service connection works.

Vehicles will be prevented from using that length of the road from a point 94m north-west of its junction with Woodmere Avenue north-westwards for a distance of 30m.

The order is due to come into force tomorrow for a period of up to 18 months, but restrictions will only apply at the times indicated by signs on or near the road.

Elton Way – goods vehicle licence

A skip hire company is applying to change its licence to keep goods vehicles at its Watford site.

MEC Skip Hire Ltd of 11-12 Maxted Road, Hemel Hempstead, wants to change its licence to add an operating centre to keep four goods vehicles at MEC Skip Hire Ltd, Elton Way, Watford WD25 8HD.

Owners or occupiers or nearby land or buildings who wish to make representations should do so in writing to the Traffic Commissioner at Hillcrest House, 386 Harehills Lane, Leeds LS9 6NF.

Access to Humberstone Close – temporary closure

The county council is intending to make an order to prevent vehicles from using the access road to Humberstone Close, Watford, for trial hole excavation works.

The road is set to be shut from its junction with A405 North Orbital Road north-eastwards for a distance of 49m.

The order is due to come into force from Tuesday and will be valid for up to 18 months, but the restrictions will only apply at times shown by signs on or near the road.
