The popular Watford 10k & 1k Fun Run is back and open for registrations.

The event is returning to support Watford Mencap, a charity providing services ranging from residential homes to learning and leisure courses for around 800 children and adults with learning disabilities.

The event will take place in Cassiobury Park on Bank Holiday Monday, May 6.

Michelle Hamilton, fundraising manager, said: "We're thrilled to announce the return of the Watford 10k & 1k Fun, supporting the vital work of Watford Mencap."

"This event brings together our community in a celebration of fitness, fun, and philanthropy, and we can't wait to see everyone on the starting line."

Runners and families of all ages and abilities are welcome to join the festivities.

Registration fees for the 10k race stand at £22, while the 1k Fun Run is priced at £9.

However, until April 6, reduced prices are available, with the 10k at £20 and the 1k at £8.

Groups of eight or more people can take advantage of a 10 per cent discount.

Running clubs are also eligible for the same discounted entry fees, inclusive of the early bird offer.

Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden sponsors this year's event, adding extra sparkle to the race day.

Participants who register and raise £50 enter a prize draw with a chance to win a family ticket to the Harry Potter Studio Tour.

Additional information on the event is available on the organisers' website.

A JustGiving page has been set up to accept donations that will support the charity's essential services, impacting lives in Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere.

All proceeds from the Watford 10k & 1k Fun Run go directly to Watford Mencap.

The funds will help maintain the charity's various services for individuals with learning disabilities — a cause that invites community participation.
