Hello, I’m Cindy, a five-year-old greyhound hoping to find a home of my own.

I’m a bit of a nervous soul and have found it difficult settling in at the National Animal Welfare Trust, even though everyone’s very nice. I’ve been kennelled with Trixie, a greyhound I came in with. She’s more confident than me, so I’m watching her and learning that walkies are a good thing!

I can live with older children who aren't too noisy as that would worry me. They’d need to read my body language and understand when I need space or reassurance. I’d find it comforting to live with another dog if we got on well here at the NAWT and during a home visit.

Watford Observer: PiperPiper

Hi! My name’s Piper and I’m a four-year-old greyhound. I’m quite shy but am sharing a kennel with Breeze, another female. I’m gaining a lot of confidence from her and showing myself to be a really sweet girl.

I can live with older children who’d take things slowly and earn my trust. I’d really like to live with another greyhound or similar-sized dog for confidence.

Watford Observer: Breeze

Hello there, my name’s Breeze and I’m a 3½-year-old girl. Although I’m not used to being in a home environment, I’m quite confident so should settle in quickly.

I can live with children of any age, as long as they respect my space. I could also live with another dog of a similar size but we’d need to eat separately.

Watford Observer: TrixieTrixie

Hi there! I’m Trixie, a 4½-year-old greyhound. I’m a sweet, friendly girl who loves being around people. My favourite thing is toys and you’ll often see me playing in my kennel. I’m currently living with Cindy as she was very worried when we came in. She’s been learning how to trust people by watching me and is slowly coming out of her shell – we’re great friends!

I can live with children who are steady on their feet, as I can be quite bouncy when I’m excited and wouldn't want to knock someone over! I could also live with a dog who’s a similar size to me.

As ex-racers, we’re not used to being left alone and we’ll need to be taught how to cope. We’ll also need help with toilet training. None of us can live with cats as we’d want to chase them!

If you can give one of us a loving retirement home, email reception@nawt.org.uk or call 0208 950 0177 (option 2).
