A breath-taking fundraising event is set to take place at Vicarage Road on June 1.

Participants in Step Up for Health are invited to run, walk or climb their way up and down the stands - mimicking the height of the Empire State Building - to raise funds for charity.

The event aims to raise money for Watford FC Trust and its neighbour, West Herts Hospitals Charity, the official charity for West Herts Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Alison Rosen, CEO at West Herts Hospitals Charity, said: "We’re thrilled to team up with Watford FC Trust for this exciting challenge event.

"Together, we can make a real difference in supporting West Herts NHS and the local community."

The event is also being supported by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA).

Saeed Nazir, regional youth leader from AMYA Hertfordshire, said: "Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association is delighted to team up with Watford FC Community Trust again and support West Herts Hospitals Charity towards a healthier community."

Along with chipped timing, participants can set personal targets, compete with friends or simply aim to complete the challenge.

The fundraising event aims to bolster the health and wellbeing of the local community, contributing to crucial projects such as the Shape Up adult weight management programme.

Karen Stephanou, head of health and wellbeing at Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust, said: "It's great to be welcoming our fundraising challenge event Step Up back to Vicarage Road this June.

"With the partnerships with AMYA UK and fellow benefitting charity, West Herts Hospitals Charity, it promises to be another fantastic community event that will make a real difference to local lives.

"With a number of our physical and mental health projects requiring urgent funding, including the ever-popular free adult weight management programme Shape Up, people's support of Step Up is vital to our continued success."

The event also promises a family-friendly experience with two categories available: adults (18+) and those aged six to 18 years.
