A proposal to erect a new bridge at a college campus is among this week's list of planning applications submitted to Watford, Three Rivers, Dacorum and Hertsmere councils.

West Herts College has applied to Dacorum Borough Council for permission to replace the current steel bridge at its Dacorum campus, in Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, with a Krafton bridge.

"The reason for replacing is that the current bridge was condemned due to the age of it and the corrosion of where the rail joins the bridge," the application form states. "The bridge is very old and in need of replacing."

However, it adds: "The bridge has been made safe as it is still used as a public footbridge to cross the river Gade to get to Gade Avenue."
