The appearance of some of the houses in this picture still looks the same today but there have been major changes in other respects.
The Watford Observer is delighted to share pictures from the archive at Watford Museum and this week we look back at this view of Kingsfield Road.
The museum’s volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: “In the early the 1900s, Kingsfield Road seems to have had a more formal appearance than it does today.
“Every house has a fence, front gate and front garden. There aren't any drop-kerbs and the streetlights have gas-light style lanterns.
“Unlike today where there are many vehicles, just one has been recorded in this view which, as it has the word 'hygienic' printed onto a board at the front of the cart, suggests it is a milk delivery vehicle.”
