Shutters have gone up at a hairdressing business that has served customers in Watford for more than 50 years.

Andrea's Hair Fashions in St Albans Road is currently closed, with the owners not responding to attempts to contact them.

It is not known when the business closed, although a photo was shared on the Watford Observer Camera Club Facebook group last week showing it out of action.

What appears to have been its website is also unavailable and there are no explanation signs at the shop.

Many members of the Camera Club group expressed sadness at its apparent closure, sharing fond memories of the hairdresser.

One wrote that seeing the shutters up is "such a shame" for the "many loyal customers" who frequented the business, while another shared memories of having their hair cut there on her wedding day - all the way back in May 1968.

The first few months of 2025 has seen plenty of change to Watford's streets, with Pepe Rosso and Côte among other businesses to close, while Wendy's and Veg Chennai Srilalitha opening in recent weeks.
