Search the Public Notice PortalAlmost 6,000 new homes could be built in Bushey and Radlett after Hertsmere Borough Council identified 14 sites that could be part of its local plan.
On Tuesday evening (April 7) the council published a consultation document revealing sites for inclusion in the council's formal response to Westminster housing targets.
Some of the sites mentioned have already been eyed for housing, while others are newly targeted as the council looks to tackle the national housing crisis.
A total of 3,054 homes could be built in Bushey, while Radlett could get an extra 2,904.
In Bushey the biggest possible development is on land south of Elstree Road, where 1,300 new homes could be on the way.

The largest potential development in Radlett is at Home Farm, a newly identified site that could have 1,040 houses built on it.
Plans for 350 homes have already been approved for the former Bushey Hall Golf Course, while an application for 280 homes at the Harts Farm site in Little Bushey Lane was refused by councillors last month. Both feature in the new document.

- Local plan in trouble as housing minister intervenes
- The 7 sites where government says 4,153 extra homes should be allowed
A local plan is the key planning document which outlines how and where new housing and other infrastructure can be built in the district.
The importance of these plans has been heightened since 2024's General Election, which saw the elected Labour government pledge to "get Britain building", ramping up housing targets for local authorities across the country.
Council officials will be hoping Hertsmere's local plan process is smoother than that of neighbouring Three Rivers District Council, which has been put on ice after the government intervened. Just one day before the plan was set to go to the final round of consultation ahead of planning inspectorate examination, the housing minister stepped in to halt the process.
Matthew Pennycook MP said he had “little confidence” in the documents, which met just 56 per cent of the government’s target number of houses, and asked to see the evidence used to draw them up.

TRDC has since submitted documents to the minister, including a 10-page summary urging him to let the plan proceed.
