Runners were brought to a brief halt when a family of ducks waddled across the route during the London Marathon.

Watford resident Laura Starck, 31, captured the unexpected moment at Embankment in London on Sunday (April 26) as a record-breaking 59,000 runners took part.

The footage shows runners pausing briefly while the ducks calmly cross in front of them at 39km, with a St John’s Ambulance staff member walking in front to make sure they remained safe.

Instead of pushing past, runners slowed down and gave the ducks space, with many pulling out their phones to capture the unusual interruption.

Laura said: “Spectators and runners quickly stopped to take pictures.”

The video has more than 300,000 views on TikTok.

Laura said the family eventually made it safely across to the riverside.
