A Watford-built lorry came home as one of the attractions at a steam fair.

The Scammell Showtrac, built in West Watford, featured prominently at Horton’s Traditional Steam Fair - even though it had the livery of John Carter's Steam Fair - on Monday, May 4 in Croxley.

The vehicle, one of many manufactured at Scammell Lorries Ltd between 1922 and 1988, was one of many historic machines that once powered life on the road—and, in this case, at the fairground.

Horton’s Fair featured vintage attractions, including the steam-powered Golden Gallopers carousel and Scammell Show Trac commercial lorries, once used to haul equipment and generate electricity for the fair.

Many of these vehicles are still in use or have been preserved by transport enthusiasts.
