A picturesque Hertfordshire town is renowned for being the poshest the county has to offer.

The town of Harpenden was previously named one of the UK's most desirable places to live by The Telegraph and was also named one of the happiest places to live in the UK by Furniturebox.

Harpenden is also among the most expensive places to live in Hertfordshire, with an overall average house price of £946,185, according to Rightmove.

Adding to the town's appeal is its connection to celebrities like England rugby coach Steve Borthwick, actress Laura Haddock, and comedian/actor Craig Charles.

How to spend a day in Harpenden

The picturesque town of Harpenden has a lot to offer, from its range of pubs and restaurants to its green spaces and proximity to London.

Harpenden has long been popular among commuters since it is located just 25 miles north of the city.

In fact, you can reach the capital in just 30 minutes via the Thameslink railway line.

The town is surrounded by miles of countryside and is filled with plenty of green spaces, offering the perfect mix of town and country.

One of the town's most famous spots is Rothamsted Park since it is ideal for walks, picnics or sports.

Harpenden Common is also a popular walking spot as a designated nature reserve with over 400 species of flora and fauna.

After a wander, there are also plenty of pubs to wind down in, including the likes of The George of Harpenden, The White Horse, Fox Harpenden and The Old Bell.
