A Watford town centre unit that was once home to a brothel has been put on the market with a new occupier being sought.

The property at 93 Market Street has a unique history, having made headlines for its raunchy past, but is now being marketed by commercial agent Perry Holt as a "mixed-use property in a prominent location".

While operating in the 2010s as 'A Different Sauna', the premises was raided by police on more than one occasion and owner Sydney Walsh was twice jailed.

In July 2014 he was sentenced to nine months in prison after police found a large number of condoms and double beds.

A court heard that Mr Walsh's elderly mother lived upstairs while eight Eastern European women sold sex, at different times.

Three years later he found himself back behind bars after admitting one count of control prostitution for gain and one count of keeping a brothel, which earned him a 21-month prison sentence.

This followed a raid in November 2016 triggered by complaints about antisocial behaviour and concerns that it was being used as a brothel.

Most recently the unit was home to a cosmetics store and is currently vacant.

Perry Holt is seeking £500,000 for the premises and has touted its basement storage space and "good passing trade" as benefits of the property.
