A restored 1938 Art Deco train is set to delight train enthusiasts when it visits Watford.

The "beautiful" heritage Tube will be making several journeys on July 25 and 26, initially departing from Amersham and finishing its journey at Watford Underground Station before heading back to Amersham on its return journey.

The route will include the North Curve, a rarely used section of track connecting Croxley and Rickmansworth and bypassing Moor Park.

The London Transport Museum's website says: "The 1938 Stock was the first kind of Tube train to have all the electrical equipment underneath the floor, combining the latest technology of the era with quintessential late 1930s style. These trains served London, on several deep-level Tube lines, for half a century.

"The beautifully restored electrified train is made up of four cars complete with green and red moquette seating, grab handles and distinctive Art Deco light fittings."

Tickets are now on sale and start at £27.50 for adults.

This will be the third consecutive year that the train has made this journey, wowing enthusiasts in September 2024 and 2025, the latter occasion marking celebrations of Watford Underground Station's 100th birthday and 200 years of railway history generally.
