A 10-year-old has been named a winner at an international maths competition.
Jayden Nunkoo Lowtun, from Watford, was among 29 students recognised at the British Youth International College (BYITC) Inspire Awards 2026 – Achievers Spotlight, held at St Augustine’s Church in Bishopbriggs on June 20.
He triumphed in the 9th International Maths Olympiad. Winners were selected by a panel of judges including Rohini Sharma Joshi OBE, Kiran Sagar, Harminder Berman, and Charan Gill MBE.

His parents, Brinda and Reshad Lowtun, said: "This award reflects years of dedication, practice, and commitment from Jayden. BYITC has helped him build life skills that extend far beyond mathematics."
Jayden, who attends The Grove Academy, was one of five young learners from southern England recognised at the event, which saw attendance from more than 100 people.
Riaan Bonnyson Macwan, 10, from Aylesbury and a pupil at St. Mary's Church of England Primary School, also won in the Maths Olympiad. Other winners included Methma Thishee Edirisinghage, six, from Hayes and Botwell House Catholic Primary School, another Maths Olympiad winner.
Atchaya Venugopal, 10, from Basingstoke and a pupil at Oakridge Junior School, graduated from the Abacus Programme.
Pranav Aiyer, 12, from Woodley and a student at Thames Valley School, also graduated from the Abacus Programme.
Dr Rashmi Mantri, founder of BYITC, said: "It was fantastic to see such a strong representation from South of England at this year’s Inspire Awards.
"These young learners have shown exceptional dedication not only in developing their maths and academic skills, but also in building confidence, leadership, and determination. They are wonderful role models for other children in the community."
The Inspire Awards celebrated achievements across the Maths Olympiad, the Supermaths Abacus programme, and the She Power Awards. The event was supported by sponsors Kiran Sagar and Saravanaa Bhavan.
Dr Mantri said the awards highlighted not only individual success but also the importance of community, family support, and inspiring young minds to reach their full potential.
