Cramer Motor Engineers Bushey to reopen after huge fire

A spokesperson for Cramer Motor Engineers has confirmed to the Watford Observer that it has found a temporary home in Colonial Way, Watford, which will open on Monday (July 27).

However, it will apparently be at least six months before they are able to return to their original site in Bushey Hall Road.

The accidental blaze ripped through the garage last Tuesday (July 14), with onlookers recalling seeing "pillows of smoke" and a "frantic scene".

The fire took hours to put out with eight fire engines and two specialist support units rushing to the scene.

It comes as a fundraiser to support the business passed £8,000, approaching its new goal of £9,000. An initial £1,000 target was smashed in less than 24 hours.

The page set up by customer Charlotte Ince, said: “This terrible incident has meant that a well-loved local business has been burnt down with a loss of Bala and Angie's livelihood as well as the jobs for their team.

“The garage is highly recommended by anyone who uses them. Bala and his team have always looked after their customers and provided the best service.

"It is now our time to support them where we can in their time of need.”
