A vintage train sped through the Watford area over the weekend delighting rail enthusiasts.
Veteran Metropolitan Railway electric locomotive No.12 Sarah Siddons returned to the tracks from July 24 to 26.
Some of its journeys used the North Curve, a rarely used "secret" section of the track which connects the Rickmansworth and Watford branches of the Metropolitan Line.
It is predominately used early in the morning or late at night for moving empty trains and occasional engineering diversions.

He noted that this was likely to be one of the last times that this type of engine will be able to travel over the tracks because a change to signalling will render it compatible with the new system.
The weekend also saw a restored 1938 Art Deco Tube Train visit Watford Underground Station.
It was part of the London Transport Museum’s last Heritage Train Journey of the year.
