Updates on further disruption will be shared via the National Rail website.

Tickets are being accepted on the 321 Arriva bus route between Watford and St Albans.

The Abbey Line runs between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey, passing through Watford North, Garston, Bricket Wood, How Wood, and Park Street.

The National Rail spokesperson added: "You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim."

Passengers faced hours of disruption on Thursday after a trackside fire in the Tring area caused delays and cancellations on trains between Watford Junction and Milton Keynes Central.
