BASED on the Tom Clancy thrillers, Splinter Cell takes game players into the murky world of special operations. You play special forces agent Sam Fisher, sent in to infiltrate high-security strongholds and defend America against its enemies (quite a list).
If this game was a woman, you would be marching it down the aisle quick smart.
Graphically, it's on another planet to its first-person shooter competitors.
Scrolling is superb here is a title which finally shows off what the Xbox can do.
It's also fiendishly difficult.
You will need a few cups of tea and a couple of late nights to complete this one.
Splinter Cell depends on covert communication and logic as much as gunning down enemies of George Bush.
First-person games are ten-a-penny these days and the genre as a whole is tired and dated.
But, as Medal of Honor was earlier this year, Splinter Cell is a breath of fresh air.
