A SCHOOLGIRL from South Oxhey is raising hundreds of pounds to improve the life of her little brother.

Jordan Trevett, aged nine, will brave sore feet and aching legs as she takes part in a four-hour sponsored dance-a-thon on Sunday.

Six-year-old brother Kelsey was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer when he was just 16 weeks old – a condition which has, in the years since, cost him his sight.

Jordan hopes to raise enough money to buy him a state-of-the-art computer programme, allowing him improved access to the internet.

She said: “I’m raising money to buy a Supernova package. It will talk to Kelsey and let him know what he is doing on the computer. It is important for him because it will make it easier for him to learn and help him at school.”

After weeks of pestering family, friends, and neighbours, Jordan and her fellow dancers are well on the way to their target of more than £850.

Proud mum Joanne, of Ilkley Road, said: “We’re absolutely flabbergasted by how much support we’ve received. Times are hard and we’re very close to Christmas but people have been so generous to her.”

Jordan, who attends nearby Woodhall School, will take to the dance floor at St Luke’s Church Hall on Sunday, November 2, with about a dozen other members of the Gypsy Booth Dance School.

The group will be cheered on not just by proud parents, but by Kelsey himself – a keen tap dancer who, despite his condition, is known to all as a happy, talkative and optimistic little boy.

Dad Dickon added: “He’s got an amazing attitude to life and he’s never once felt sorry for himself.

“It’s never been a case of what he can’t do, but more what he can do. He always looks on the positive side of life.”
