A LOCAL boys school will open its doors to parents, students and friends next month when it stages an end of term outdoor concert.

The annual event held at Watford Grammar School for Boys on Saturday, July 5 will not only showcase renditions from some of the school's most talented musicians but also feature performances from students of Watford Grammar School for Girls in Ladys Close, Watford and Cassiobury Junior School in Bellmount Wood Avenue.

This years concert which also mark an early start to the the boys school's Tercentennial celebrations, will be open for the first time to members of the public and include a grand firework display at the ground in Rickmansworth Road, Watford.

Headmaster at the school, Mr Martin Post said: "We are very proud of our musical tradition and I believe that by opening up this event to the public we can more closely integrate with the local community and share with them the excitement of the evening".

Head of Music and director of the concert, Mr Steven Hussey said: "We have a challenging and varied repertoire planned, including the 'Olympic Fanfare' by John Williams for massed forces, a suite of pieces from 'Les Miserables' and Bernstein’s 'Candide' Overture."

Tickets cost £8 for adults and £4 for children under the age of 16 and can be obtained in advance or on the night.
