A CONTROVERSIAL plan to convert a conservation area terrace into six bedsits has been agreed.

The two-storey house in Langley Road, Watford, will be converted despite a row over parking provision.

Applicant Ms Jennifer Adams said the development would provide sought-after accommodation for people like students who could not afford to rent a flat.

Two parking permits for the CPZ in Langley Road would be provided to occupants on a first come, first served basis but it was feared the development could still result in more cars in an area already clogged with vehicles.

Councillor Sheila Jones said: “We are going to contribute to the misery that a lot of people have already.” The plan was passed by Watford Council's development control committee with a majority vote.
