Volunteers at the Croxley Green branch of the British Red Cross have welcomed a council grant to buy life-saving equipment.
The Parish Council agreed a £500 donation at a meeting on Thursday for the purchase of a new heart defibrillation machine.
Defibrillation machines use an electric shock to restart the heart, usually after a heart attack.
The donation will allow the centre to purchase a second machine for its Barton Way HQ. The other will be used at public events.
Centre Organiser Barbara Davis said: “We are very pleased. They are fantastic machines that anybody can use. They really can save lives.”
Council Chairman Brian Norman said at the meeting: “You never know when you might need one.”
