Herts Air Ambulance is looking for people from south west Hertfordshire to get on board to raise much needed funds during National Air Ambulance Week.

From Monday, September 21, the fundraising team will be launching the Go Red appeal to help raise vital funds.

Local schools, businesses, groups, clubs and individuals are invited to join in the week of fundraising and donate £1 to the charity during that week. To take part supporters simply choose a day during the week to wear red, show their support for the Air Ambulance and donate £1 per person to help keep the life-saving helicopter flying.

As an incentive for schools to take part, there is a competition to win a special landing by the life-saving red helicopter during the week. All schools that sign up for Go Red by Friday, July 3, will be entered into a draw and five lucky schools from across the county will be picked to have the Herts Air Ambulance land in their playing field.

The charity is grateful to Medical Aviation Services, operators of the aircraft, for allowing them to fly the helicopter free of charge for these special landings.

Those who sign up will join a roll of honour; a list of organisations, companies and schools participating in the campaign which will be featured on online at HertsAirAmbulance.uk.com.

Nikki Caborn of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust is co-ordinating the campaign and said: “We are very excited to be launching the Go Red appeal this year and hope people will show their support.

“Thank you to everyone who has helped get this appeal off the ground including Weald Aviation for donating the use of its red Ferrari and red Gnat aircraft for the launch.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to raise funds and to involve the whole community in charity work. Going red this September will play a huge part in helping us keep the Air Ambulance flying.”
