Two best friends from Bushey will celebrate winning Channel 4's reality travel programme Coach Trip, by going on another coach trip.

Viewers saw Hannah Clipston and Kate Green, both 28, join the programme's third series on Day 14 when they flew to Bologna, Italy, to meet their fellow passengers aboard the Union Jack-covered bus.

And last Thursday, on Day 29, viewers saw the pair win the final vote, where they were crowned the 'best couple'.

Their prize was a voucher for a nine-day coach trip, and the pair will visit the Costa Bravo and Barcelona next month.

Hannah said: “It was a huge surprise (to win). We didn't think we would win it. We really liked everyone at the end. It was very emotional when people said they liked us and wanted us to win.

“Everyone has been really sweet and cheering us on. People have been coming up to us in the street.”

Coach Trip sees seven couples embark on a 30-day tour of Europe, where they visit a different cities and try their hand at various activities.

But at the end of each day, the contestants get to vote off their least favourite pair, who are then replaced by another couple fresh from the UK.

During their time aboard the bus, the pair visited Croatia, Hungary and Austria, before the tour finished in Prague, in the Czech Republic.

Along the way, they made goulash, learnt the Viennese Waltz and toured Zagreb on Segway personal transporters.

Hannah, a care worker who lives with Kate in Hillside Road, said: “It's really strange looking back on it. I enjoyed it all. We made the most of it.

“One night we spent in a lodge by a lake, with two other girls, Sandra and Michelle. We thought it would be a luxury cabin but it turned out to be a big cabin. It actually turned out to be one of the best nights.”

“We didn't dream in a million years we would get to the end or win it. It became apparent there was this alliance going on and nice people we got on with got sent home early. We didn't really care. We just made the most of it.

“We went in there not really knowing what we were letting ourselves in for. We thought the vote bit would be ok but it actually turned out to be quite a big thing. It did stress us out at times but we stayed away from it.

“We kept away from the cameras as much as we could get away with. We were there for the experience and a holiday.”
