Peace talks will continue between Royal Mail and the Communication Workers Union (CWU)tomorrow in a last-ditch bid to avoid a further two days of industrial action next week.

The union has announced further strike dates on Friday, November 6 and Monday, November 9 for all its 121,000 members.

The fresh walkouts will further impact on already stretched postal services in the area, severely impacted by four days of walkouts in just two weeks.

On Thursday the Watford Observer reported how the strike had impacted its blind readers, who rely on the postal distribution of tapes to keep up-to-date with the local news.

Union officials, who are demanding reforms over modernisation plans and pay, say talks are continuing to avert the latest round of industrial action.
