Parish councillors are considering rebranding Kings Langley to make it more attractive to visitors.

At a meeting of the parish council on Tuesday, shopowner Jeff Folkins asked attending councillors whether it would be possible to add decorative signage to the entrance of the village.

Mr Folkins, who owns Dalling & Company, on the High Street, said: “Kings Langley has started to become more of transitory village, a place that people drive through to get elsewhere or stop at very briefly.

“I think we need to consider rebranding its image and one way to do that is with new signage indicating the shops in the village.”

Councillor Alan Anderson said: “Having looked at some of the designs Mr Folkins has brought here today, I must say I rather like the slim banner ones.

“I’ve seen a number of banners like these in major cities such as Manchester and Edinburgh and not only are they attractive, but they are very eye-catching.

“We could look to also make the roundabout at the entrance of the village more attractive as well.

“We would need to consider how we are going to fund this though.”

It was decided that parish councillors would contact Herts Highways as to what signs and banners could be placed around the village.

Mr Folkins suggested that shopowners around Kings Langley could be asked to pay towards the signage, which he had costed at £250.
