A PAIR of local clowns have made their mark on the other side of the globe by winning gold medals in the World Clown Convention.
Sonny and Rainbow took part in the group skit contest in New Mexico and were delighted to triumph over all their international rivals.
Bedmond resident Gordon Sharpe, otherwise known as Rainbow, and partner Gary McBeth, competed against 26 other groups of clowns at the event, with a routine aping a male and female duck with use of whistles.
Mr Sharpe said: "It was a fantastic experience. We visited an Indian reserve and did a couple of shows and we took part in the main show, produced by a clown from Sweden.
"Including us there were only four clowns from the UK we were sponsored by the president who is English."
