A major retail chain has announced the closure of more than 350 shops across the country, including one in Bushey Mill Lane.

As part of the closure programme, liquidation sales are taking place at each of the shops in order to sell off stock at a discount.

The administrators of First Quench Retailing, which trades as Threshers, Wine Rack, The Local and others, made the headlines with the closure plan last Thursday.

Richard Flemming, joint administrator, said: “The remaining stores are trading well and we believe they present an attractive investment.

"We are confident of securing a sale in the coming weeks.”

Out of about 1,200 units, 373 loss making shops were closed, with 247 continuing to trade until November 25 and a further 126 trading until December 2.

The plan results in nearly 2,000 redundancies.
