The Abbots Langley Community Centre is to receive a helping hand with refurbishments thanks to a grant donated by a Hertfordshire County Councillor.
Liberal Democrat councillor Paul Goggins, for Abbots Langley, has awarded the centre £100 from his locality budget, to help pay for new internal doors and equipment at the premises in the High Street.
The centre is a voluntarily-run organisation which provides affordable premises for local groups including toddler and parent groups, as well as being a venue for charity fundraising events.
Brian Hibberd, chairman of the centre, said: "The local community has played a major part in fund-raising for this project for more than a decade.
“This gift from the locality budget has helped the people of Abbots Langley see a dream come true at last - the newly furbished centre is now a venue to be proud of.”
Councillor Goggins said: "The Abbots Langley Community Centre is a great asset to a wide variety of groups and organisations in the village and the community as a whole, I am very pleased to be able to help."
Each county councillor has locality budgets worth £10,000, which they can hand out to worthy organisations in their wards.
