Paramedics have been called to dozens of road traffic accidents in less than ten hours – mainly because of the freezing weather.
The East of England Ambulance Service says it has been called to 30 calls in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire alone since midnight.
Service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “That’s a very high number for us to deal with and a lot more than we would usually expect. Our message is to drive carefully.”
