Digimon racing introduces the popular digital monsters from kids TV to the high-speed world of karting in an entertaining new release for the gameboy advance.

This game bears more than a passing resemblance to the excellent Mario Kart Super Circuit (which is still taken out for a spin by my kids on a regular basis). However such characters as Agumon, Gabumon and Tentomon have replaced those crazy plumbers Mario and Luigi.

The game has four modes of play, three of which are single player and a multiplayer option for up to four drivers. The main mode is the Cup Race where you must battle it out against five competitors in arenas ranging from dusty deserts to polar ice packs.

Each level features four tracks and points are awarded depending on where you place. Win the race, win the Cup.

Achieve a podium finish after four races and you meet an end of level boss who must be defeated to unlock the next level. There are three level bosses each requiring a different strategy to defeat.

Win all the races and complete the other sections of the ganme and you can unlock three bonus characters.

The graphics are pretty good though the soundtrack can get a little irritating after a while, but at least you can turn down the volume.

You will have to stick at it for a while to master some of the trickier circuits and the characters can be difficult to control.

Overall, Digimon Racing is fun and entertaining to play. It won't win any plaudits for originality and it certainly is not in the same class as its superior Pokemon GBA rivals, but if you fancy a few hours of crazy racing get this in your shopping cart now.
