MEMBERS of Kings Langley Parish Council welcomed news from Dacorum Borough Council last week that plans have now been put in place to provide the long-awaited lighting for one of the village's main footpaths.
Funds are now available and councillors are to be consulted on the exact lighting they would prefer to be situated along the public footpath, situated between The Nap and Church Lane.
Permission to install lighting was originally requested by the council in September 1998, following a series of complaints from local residents who claimed visibility was poor late afternoon along what could at times be quite a secluded area.
Vice-chairman of the parish council, Steve Cox said of the news: "After much procrastination from the Borough Council. I'm glad that at last they are getting their act together.
"This scheme was originally agreed ages ago."
Ten lamp posts are due to be installed along the footpath.
