Can any of your readers help with information on a John Parr and his family?
In 1901 they lived at 36 Lichfield Grove, Finchley, and later at 52 Lodge Lane, North Finchley.
John was killed in the First World War on August 21, 1914, and is believed to be the first British soldier killed in that war.
His father Edward and mother Alice also lived in Lodge Lane and their children were Edward, Caroline, Alice, May, Charles, Jane and John himself.
It may well be that relatives still exist in the borough. Any information would be gratefully received.
