Hundreds of people from Borehamwood and Shenley enjoyed a pick-me-up on Friday during the World's Biggest Coffee Morning.

Mayor of Hertsmere Stuart Nagler was at the Borehamwood event, at Hertsmere Council's Civic Offices in Elstree Way, on behalf of his chosen charity for the year, Macmillan Cancer Relief.

He drank coffee with people who came along to raise money for the charity, and enjoy a chat.

"We had a very good morning. There must have been between 150 and 200 people there, and we raised a lot of money for Macmillan," said Mr Nagler.

Clothing and cards were also sold on behalf of the charity.

Shenley's event, at St Martins Church in London Road, was the best organiser Mark van Twest had seen, with around 75 people coming along to enjoy a coffee and a chat. "We did very well, I think it was the best ever. Most of the people came in for a good long chat, and there was a raffle as well."

More than £500 was raised from the two events, to be passed onto the charity.
