After last week's defeat manager Mark Peach changed Dragon's starting line-up for this league encounter.
Dragon started off well enough. New striking partners Darren Davis and Rees Frost combined well, and both had early shots at goal well-saved.
But Gayton went ahead when a striker shot through a packed area following a corner.
Darren Sherwin got Dragon's equaliser when he headed in a Frost corner kick.
Frost scored the goal of the game, when he latched onto an Antony Slavin pass and went past three players, before shooting in from outside the area.
Darren Davis got Dragon's third when he smashed the ball home from close range. He also got the fourth when he worked well with Frost to beat Gayton's offside trap.
Gayton got a penalty just after half-time, but the resulting spot kick was blasted over the bar. The referee made the player take the kick again, and again he blasted it over the bar.
In the second half Gayton tried to get back into the game, and it needed man-of-the-match Mick McFadzean to pull off three great saves. Frost made it five when he lost his marker to shoot home.
Davis then got the hat-trick he deserved. Lee Boorman's ball forward looked easy for the keeper to deal with, but Davis ran through to rob him and shoot past the defender on the line.
