HARPENDEN'S Mark Crowley had two reasons to celebrate last weekend (August 17/18) after setting a new personal best in the pole vault and gaining his first selection to the senior British team.

The 19-year-old flies out with the squad on Friday, September 6, to compete in a commemorative match a decade after the Barcelona Olympics.

"It's my first senior international so I am very excited," said Crowley, who recently returned for the World Junior Athletics Championships in Jamaica.

On Sunday, August 18, the Enfield and Haringey athlete justified his position in the squad with a 2.16m jump in a National Junior League match.
