ST ALBANS Canoe Polo Club made the short journey south to the capital city on Saturday, August 17, to successfully defend the London Internationals tournament.
Three matches on Saturday set up a Sunday semi-final against Welsh team Dragons, and after they had been brushed aside 8-2, a similar fate seemed in store for home side Meridian during the final.
By half-time, St Albans has gone 4-0 in front, and only a noticeable removal of foot from pedal prevented a similar story in the second half, 5-4 it ended.
The St Albans team included Alan Vessey, Ginny Coyles, Andy Davis, Matt Taylor and Paul Hillyard.
Of their number, Vessey, Coyles, Taylor and Hillyard will meet up with the rest of the British team for an international weekend in Ypres, Belgium, ahead of the World Championships in Germany in September.
