REDBOURN secured a vital victory on Saturday, August 17, at Rickmansworth to give themselves some hope of salvaging the season and beating the drop.

After winning the toss and electing to bat on a dry strip, Chris Yorath and Keith Arnold came together after a slow start to put on a useful stand of 60.

Yorath went on to make telling contributions with Geoff Tookey and Geoff Bartlett before finally settling for 76 with Redbourn bowled out for 173.

In reply, Redbourn used their spinners to great effect as Wayne Smith took 7-73 to cause chaos among the Rickmansworth ranks.

Kevin Hull took the final three wickets for 28 as Redbourn emerged comfortable winners to pick up only their fourth win of the season.

Redbourn visit Bushey on Saturday in their final home fixture of the season and with only tricky away matches at Letchworth second XI and Dunstable second XI remaining, 30 points seems a must if 'Bourn are to stay up.
