WATFORD have been linked with Dennis Wise, and one paper went so far as to suggest the Hornets are about to sign the player.
"To suggest that we could afford to sign a player who has been earning £10,000 or £12,000-a-week is ridiculous," said manager Ray Lewington. "They obviously have no knowledge of our finances. If it was £10 or £12-a-week, I might be talking to him.
"He has been training with us, but has kept himself to himself. The story is nonsense."
