THE FINAL race in the Chigwell Row 5k multi-terrain series on Friday brought success for a number of local runners, and three Harlow members of Newham and Essex Beagles won their overall leagues.

Ravenna Brown's superb personal best of 20min 58sec over the very demanding course saw her finish second lady on the day, but comfortably clinch the women's title.

Ben Stewart claimed the U20 mens prize with his quickest time yet of 19min 9sec, although he was pipped to the post on the day by Richard Mead.

The Beagles' other champion came in the form of Katherine Foy, who took the junior 2800m title after crossing the line second in 10min 59sec, behind Robert Mead (10min 48sec), and ahead of Eleice Paton and Jon Stewart.

Three Latton Runners also competed in the 5k race. Duncan Stewart, in training for a charity 10k, clocked 23min 38sec, followed by Andy Presland (24min 37sec) and Jane Knight (35min 40sec).
