HARPENDEN RUGBY UNION CLUB are gearing up for a successful season after a major summer shake-up which has seen former Saracens player Chris Wright take his place among the coaching staff at Redbourn lane.

Wright joins Harpenden from National League side Henley and will assist with coaching, alongside fitness instructor Dave Hance, in his new role as Head Coach and Development Officer.

Returning for his third spell at Harpenden, Wright initially started his career as a Colt before making the move to Saracens. Wright returned to Redbourn Lane in 1996 as a player-coach and led the club to three successive league titles as well as the Junior Cup after victory against Crewe and Nantwich at Twickenham.

On the pitch, the club are holding an open day on Saturday (August 24) at noon at the ground in Redbourn Lane, Harpenden, for anybody interested in getting involved with the club, either playing, socialising, spectating or simply getting fit.
