PEOPLE in Hertfordshire are being called on to actively support the county's enterprise community by thinking, buying and acting locally.

The appeal has been made by the chairman of the County Land and Business Association (CLA) Mr Patrick Cooper.

He said: "If we are to keep rural businesses in business and rural services alive we need to begin here in Hertfordshire.

"Wherever possible, we must supoort village shops and post offices and choose local suppliers.

"It is no use complaining about the effect of imports, if we do not buy the goods produced on our own doorsteps.

"It is not enough to campaign for a rural revival, we have to make it happen.

"Where entrepreneurs are working to keep the countryside alive, we need to help them."

Mr Cooper's call endorses a new campaign by the CLA in the eastern region to encourage support for the country side and all who live and work there. Members' cars will be carrying stickers urging people to 'Think Local, Act Local, Buy Local'.
