Aylesbury United 0-3 St Albans City
ST ALBANS CITY brushed aside Aylesbury United at Buckingham Road last night (August 20) with a classy performance which will have convinced many watching that the Saints are a force to be reckoned with this season.
Three second-half goals were the least that City deserved for their flowing attacking game and solid defensive display, marshalled by Corey Campbell, who, after a contract dispute, appeared to have no future at Clarence Park.
The opening goal came on 49 minutes when Steve Castle turned in Scott Oakes' flighted corner and City increased their lead on 62 minutes when Jon Challinor and Becket Hollenbach combined to set up Simon Martin for his second goal of the season.
Miguel De Souza came off the bench to score for the second game running to wrap up a victory which looked all the more impressive as news filtered through the title favourites Canvey island and Aldershot Town were both heavily beaten.
