Shenley Village eased into second spot behind league-leaders Barnet after a decisive eight-wicket win at the weekend, their fourth consecutive win in the Sunday league.
The Villagers have one more game, against bottom-of-the-table Stevenage, and, if they win, all of Shenley's teams could be promoted at the end of an astonishing season for the club. Good all-round bowling and fielding kept the visitors to 181, which was followed by some fine batting from the home side, with Vernon scoring another Sunday 50, St John Fuller unbeaten on 45 and Arthur Jenkins chipping in with 34.
