Arsenal legend Tony Adams is among a team of ex-professionals being lined up to play in a fundraising match for a memorial dedicated to the victims of the Potters Bar rail crash.

Organiser Colin Titmuss, 33, of Bugbale Hill Lane, Potters Bar, is a member of the amateur team aiming to take them on.

He and a fellow team-member, Mark Fewster, decided to set up a football match between the dads of boys playing in the three under-18 Potters Bar teams the Crusaders, United and Potters Bar Town, to raise money for a memorial.

He said: "My mates and I were playing five-a-side football the day after the Potters Bar train crash and we said we should do something.

"It should be a great match."

Mr Fewster added: "Although the former pros don't play any more, they're all still good. I think they'll win."

The team they put together, dubbed Potters Bar Reunited, faces a daunting line-up on Sunday, August 25, including ex-Chelsea star Kerry Dixon, ex-Spurs player Jason Cundy and possibly Tony Adams and former Spurs captain Garry Mabbutt.

There will also be an England shirt, signed by Sven Goran Eriksson, and an official Arsenal shirt, signed and donated by Dennis Bergkamp, as well as a signed West Ham shirt, and a signed copy of Victoria Beckham's autobiography and her latest album, on sale.

All money raised will go towards putting up a memorial for the victims of the Potters Bar rail disaster.

Gates open at noon for a 2pm kick-off at Potters Bar FC in The Walk, Potters Bar. Entry costs £5 (£2.50 for children and pensioners), and children under five go free.
