Finchley, fighting a relegation battle for the second successive year, were in deep trouble at 29-6 against new champions Teddington on Saturday.

Though they recovered well to finish on 169-8, Finchley collected only one point.

They bowled well to restrict Teddington to 217 all out (Sarel Cilliers 5-84) in 63.3 overs.

Following early disasters for Finchley, including two run-outs, Eddie Hodges (53) led the fightback and Josh Knappett (33no) and Cilliers (22no) survived for 21 overs to prevent a defeat.

On Sunday, Finchley lost to Hampstead in a thrilling Ibex Cup quarter-final. Finchley amassed 237-9 (Eddie Hodges 78, Jake Milton 61) off their 45 overs but Hampstead won at 237-7 (Gary Headley 70, Cilliers 3-58) having lost fewer wickets.

- A century by Middlesex captain Owais Shah (102) helped Ealing amass 260-3 declared against Brondesbury in their Division One match.

Nick Compton (52no) and Tom Simpson (50) batted well for Brondesbury, who drew at 202-2. Ealing took four run-rate points and Brondesbury one.

- In Division Two, bottom club Barnet played well against second-placed Barnes but had to settle for one point in a drawn game.

After Barnes declared at 285-4, skipper Anooj Vadgama (96) and Syed Ali (71) gave Barnet hope of ten precious points, but they ended 26 runs short on 260-6.

Barclays, also in relegation trouble, lost to leaders and likely champions Southgate by two wickets.

After Barclays were all out for 170 (J Abbas 47no), Southgate won at 171-8.
